The Troggs
The Troggs (originally called the Troglodytes) are an English beat music band formed in Andover, Hampshire, in May 1964. Their most famous songs include the US chart-topper " Wild Thing", "With a Girl Like You" and "Love Is All Around", all of which sold over 1 million copies and were awarded gold discs. "Wild Thing" is ranked No. 257 on the ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and was an influence on garage rock and punk rock.Laing, Dave (1985). Reg Presley
Reginald Maurice Ball (12 June 1941 – 4 February 2013), known professionally as Reg Presley, was an English singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer with the 1960s rock and roll band the Troggs, whose hits included "Wild Thing (The Troggs song), Wild Thing" (#1 on the Hot 100 on 30 July – 6 August 1966) and "With a Girl Like You" (#1 on the UK Official Singles Chart on 4–11 August 1966). He wrote the song "Love Is All Around", which was featured in the films ''Four Weddings and a Funeral'' and ''Love Actually''. Personal life Reginald Maurice Ball was born in Andover, Hampshire, in 1941. His father was a milkman, later a bus driver, and his mother ran a cafe. He left school at the age of fifteen. Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time
"The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" is a recurring song ranking compiled by the American magazine ''Rolling Stone''. It is based on weighted votes from selected musicians, critics, and industry figures. The first list was published in December 2004 in a special issue of the magazine, issue number 963, a year after the magazine published its list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time". In 2010, ''Rolling Stone'' published a revised edition, drawing on the original and a later survey of songs released up until the early 2000s. Another updated edition of the list was published in 2021, with more than half the entries not having appeared on either of the two previous editions; it was based on a new survey and did not factor in the surveys conducted for the previous lists. Ocarina
The ocarina (otherwise known as a potato flute) is a wind musical instrument; it is a type of vessel flute. Variations exist, but a typical ocarina is an enclosed space with four to twelve finger holes and a mouthpiece that projects from the body. It is traditionally made from clay or ceramic, but other materials are also used, such as plastic, wood, glass, metal, or bone. Thank Your Lucky Stars (TV Series)
''Thank Your Lucky Stars'' was a British television pop music show made by ABC Weekend TV, and broadcast on ITV from 1961 to 1966. Of all the show's presenters, Brian Matthew is perhaps the best remembered. Many of the leading pop groups of the time performed on it. As well as featuring British artists, it often included American guest stars. It would appear from the surviving footage that the bands mimed their latest 45. Occasionally a band was allowed to do two numbers (possibly the A-side and B-side sides of their latest single or an EP or LP track); bands of a higher status such as The Beatles or The Rolling Stones would sometimes play up to as many as four numbers. Lost Girl (song)
"Lost Girl" is a song by the English rock band the Troggs, written by the lead singer Reg Presley (credited under his birth name R. M. Ball). Released as the group's debut single in February 1966, backed by "The Yella in Me", it failed to chart in the UK but became a top-ten hit in Sweden in December of that year. Background and release Larry Page signed the Troggs in February1966, and the band soon after moved to London. In preparation for the group's debut single, Page booked time at Regent Sound Studios in London, where he had previously recorded demoes with the Kinks, and the Troggs' lead singer Reg Presley prepared two songs, "Lost Girl" and "The Yella in Me". Leonard Davies (9 November 1936 – 19 April 2024), known professionally as Larry Page, was an English pop singer and record producer, primarily from the late 1950s until the early 1970s and briefly in the 1990s. Biography Leonard Davies was born in Hayes, Hillingdon, Middlesex in 1936. After changing his name to Larry Page, in honour of Larry Parks, the star of '' The Jolson Story'' (1946), the teenager began a recording career as a singer.
